Description
With Backstrom out for the season, the Caps have the cap space for this deal without moving Mantha.

Instead of looking for a finisher to play with Petey, you get a guy in Necas who can make Petey the finisher, and Necas has a better two way game than Kuzmenko. Carolina has been trying to make Necas a centre, and I think it has hobbled his game. The Canes have an internal salary structure, and Necas' ask on an extension might not be what the Canes are looking for.

Lyubushkin might be a little shy on the puck skill side for what the Canucks would ideally like to add, but he's a solid grab for playoff run.

I'd like to see what Tocchet could get out of Wahlstroms' combination of size, speed and shooting ability. If it doesn't work, you could try Blueger on that line, or go back to PDG.

They take a risk messing with the chemistry the group seems to have now, but no one's ever won the Stanley Cup by playing it safe, and I'm damn tired of waiting. The window is open, let's get this done.

Trades 1,2 and 4 decline.
Don’t know if trade 3 would work.
Canucks aren’t trading Kuzmenko.
Rather have Washington keep their first round pick.
Carolina can keep Necas.
Losing Hoglander, Podkolzin, and Klimovich is a bad idea.

Trade #1. I suppose its possible Kuzmenko gets moved. If they do, and its still a big IF, not sure it nets a first.
Trade #2. I like Necas. Carolina probably does too. Dont mind it in principle.
Trade #3. Not a big Lyubushkin fan. Juulsen is probably better
Trade #4. Prefer Podz over Wahlstrom.
