Description
This is looking like a patch work of a team. Meier can't stay healthy as well as Palat. Defense is in shambles. I expect Jack to be out for a week baring a worse case scenario with the results on Tuesday. Sitting on the edge of the playoffs right now. I don't think this lineup can keep them afloat for long. If we are in fact targeting say Tanev or Hanifin Fitz now has his back against the wall. Calgary and any other teams can smell blood.

There are relief options on the market. This "could" be a good thing. Now you know the limits of your depth. It's better to learn that in the regular season rather than the playoffs.

You can pickup some cheaper assets to bolster the team for the regular season and as depth pieces in the playoffs.

I can see them getting Tatar back to fill in the forward group. He knows this group and we have the space on LTIR

Retool like Tampa did in 2016-17 and reassess. NJD have one of the best young cores in the league. Having Hughes/Hischier as your top2 centers is what built dynasties for past teams like the Penguins.

This year could be a learning lesson NOT to rely simply on young talent after dumping so many linchpins on defence like Severson and Graves.

Which is what Julien Brisebois is master at! Fitz needs to take some risks instead of trying to save face. Only 1 winner at the end of the year, you dont get Stanley Cups for making the responsible choices each and every year. You need to push your chips to the middle of the table during you window.

It's tough to say what the issues really are other than consistency. Goal is our main issue, our D has been porous to say the least. But the forward group has never had a extended length of time time together without a injury. Growing pains is right

You dont want to be the Islanders whom have an AHL defence rn w/o Pulock/Pelech YET moving up the standings with the loser point. It's ok to step back! Ebbs and flows.
Let the Penguins and Isles self destruct after this season.
