Description
Man I do not know what to do with this Sens team. I've heard many times that they need to move a core player but, for one reason or another, it seems like almost everyone on this team is hard to trade. For me, Batherson is a really talented winger having a nice season with a contract that makes him more valuble than his play alone. He's not a guy I assosciate as being an essential piece of this team and therefore the best guy to move. I also can't see Ottawa simply taking back futures in any core piece trade (We all know what Friedge said about 'True Pros'). Seattle is a great fit here with strong depth but a need for good, young, offensive talent. In return, Ottawa gets three good pieces in a 2nd, a young and signed right-shot defenseman, and a middle-six centre. Many will say Wennberg is not a need, but I think Ottawa simply needs bodies and I think he could help acclimate Pinto as he returns, while also moving to a shut down role. I figure Ottawa could get him to waive his NTC. Brannstrom finally feels on the way out, and getting a pick and player is a decent enough haul from the Wild who really just need a shot at some upside. Carolina was a team interested in Tarasenko this offseason and he would come now as a cheap rental with upside. Kubalik could honestly go anywhere there is no space for him in Ottawa. With these moves Ottawa would open up heaps of flexibility for next season cap-wise and get more prospects into their system, making for an overall better future. Now go tell me why I'm wrong

Moving Batherson for anything less than a 2024 1st and a B+ prospect is an absolute failure. He’s a 65-75pt winger making less than 5 mil

Tarasenko and Brannstrom get more

wennberg and brogen might be worth not getting that first.

I agree based on value about what you say about Batherson, but as I said I feel the Sens need to prioritize immediate players rather than picks because it will encourage the fans and try to put an end on the losing culture. Brannstrom is someone who I've debated the value of before, but honestly the Sens should be happy to get anything out of him because he is a bust. I don't think the Tarasenko trade will look like last year's, I think it will look a lot more like the Taylor Hall to Boston move or Kane to New York. Most contenders don't need score first wingers at the deadline, and I do not see his market as frothy, especially on his number.

I still feel like someone beats that deal for Tarasenko.

Wennberg is a rental. Borgen only has 1 more year left. That’s not good value at all. Not getting a 1st or one of seattles good young prospects is very bad
