Description
Don't take this too seriously. I'm just browsing and wanted to see what they can and can't afford. Especially don't take terms seriously, I didn't put much thought into them. But I do think these cap hits are pretty fair for the players I signed.

Looks like they can afford to upgrade some positions, and maybe even re-sign Bert if they choose to. Not sure how comfortable they will still be with Brodie, or if Gio will return. I think Benoit/Lagesson have looked good and can be viable 3rd pairing guys. Robo Jr seems to be doing well, maybe he can get an increased role next year.

Martin Jones gets a 1 year prove it deal. With the way goaltending is nowadays, I don't think I'd really go after anyone.

I think whatever happens is impossible to predict, because it's all dependent on what they do in the playoffs. At least the major contracts are out of the way. I don't think trading Marner or anyone else is necessary at all now that I see this on paper. They can remain fairly status quo.

I guess the biggest issues I see ias that you are way too reliant on all the forwards developing and being ready for BIG roles on a contender AND that defense will be even worse: Benoit becomes a top 6 for a contender, timmins suddenly discovers how to play defense, old man brodie keeps it together another year, and Liljegren a top 4 guy who doesn’t produce offensively enough, so its Reilly and a bunch of over the hill/underachievers/never-weres? And you’re marching out Jones like hes found the fountain of youth.

Ultimately, it seems like the Leafs and a lot of Leaf fans place no importance on defense or goaltending, and insist on this score at any/all means approach. This is just an exercise to see how they can maintAIN THE BIG 4, even though its apparent year after year that the structure doesn;t work/translate to the playoffs.

I know its all a what if/could we, but you have kind of ignored the main reason this team loses: defense

That's a lot of words to let us all know you don't know how to read descriptions. Thanks
