    I know it goes against what folks think would be a fair trade but how's this thought. Oilers want cap space, just trade him to team that wants a centre , has cap room, and get zero, nothing in return. Carolina, Arizona maybe St Louis comes to mind who might do this in the summer of 2018. The issue is would you rather have Gallagher or 3.75m to spend elsewhere. Maybe it's the cap room.

    I guess the thing is, you have cap space for Gallagher at least for 1 year, so you get him for that year and then can flip him for futures he next year.
