dont get your hopes up with hanifin, apparently flames are looking like theyre extending him and trading tanev and lindy
If he does, that’s great for Calgary and Boston evaluates at free agency. Not very appealing free agent is going to resign no matter how much that mantra is mentioned.
From my perspective, I view some of that as noise trying to create leverage. I’m pretty comfortable that CCA has a high level understanding of what teams are willing to offer and teams have a high level understanding of what he is going to want.
If Hanifn chooses security and status quo with a team that’s struggled, has poor facilities, and is in a market that isn’t one of the more appealing ones; that is 100% understandable. I’m assuming none of us know him enough to know what is going to drive this decision.
He is roughly 6 months away from likely being able to make similar money in his hometown for a team that’s won more regular season games than anyone in the past two years for a player friendly coach with great facilities.
I like our chances here, but things change. I’m not attached to one player, but I’m pretty comfortable if Boston stands pat that they will get a very good player with their funds.
