Description

-Poitras out hurts cause I liked watching him and he’s been extremely exciting for the future but this was the right move, get him healed up and ready for next season
- This opens the door to actually see what you have in Merkulov and Lysell. Get them in and get them reps on lines in the top 9 with other skilled guys. Maybe they could be an answer to add some depth scoring down the stretch. They have both been real good in providence lately. Id love to see them get up here and put them in a spot to succeed so you can determine now how aggressive you gotta be at the deadline
- Wotherspoon over Forbort going forward, I like Forbort i think more than most people but still never loved his game. Hes a boarderline bottom pair guy but hes struggled recently.
- if possible i’d want Beecher over Boqvist at 4C i know waivers and the cap are in play there but I think Beechers better suited already.
- Still would look into Tanev/Hanifin at the deadline but comes down to cost and not really the focus of this post.

I think they give Lysell a shot before they call up Merkulov again.

I would keep Boqvist rotating with Lauko on the 4th line and send Steen down. I do agree that I think Beecher needs to get called up, not sure why he ended up in the dog house to begin with.

You don’t put Merkulov on the top line. Frederic’s earned that role, but one of your third liners should be in that role if you want Frederic to continue to run the third line to maintain balance.

I would go with Lysell filling the void with Frederic moving up, because he actually has the upside to fill a scoring and talent void that Poitras brought (even if he was not being used consistently).

I think there are other options for Montgomery to choose from and I feel confident he will

You could use the positional versatility of Merkulov on the roster.

You could move Beecher up and then move a Heinen to the third line.

I’m also pretty curious how the training and nutrition staff is going to work with Poitras on gaining strength and weight with the should injury.

Boqvist isn't a 4th line center but could split time with Lauko - call up Beecher to center the line and waive Steen. Lauko/Boqvist - Beecher - Heinen should be the 4th line going forward.

A little concerned with the impact this surgery will have on Poitras' development - he needs to get into the weight room and put on size and strength
