Might be some logic in what you say. The real danger would be if one Nylander, Matthews, Kadri got injured and Moore and Fehr would be upped into the 3rd and 4th line centres,,,,,ugly.

so you want a top 3 D to slot on to your top 2 by only trading a 3C? ... i bet blue jackets would be asking for a bit more even tho both players are UFA at the end of the year. I also think Toronto would rather want a true RD rather than moving Reilly to RD. If i am toronto I would do a D for D trade by giving up a LD for RD.... since Gardiner and Zaitsev have a nice combo going I would say trading Rielly + ... for a true # 1 RD .

You have underestimated his value to the Leafs. And Reilly is playing LHD, what's this red herring about him moving to the RHD? And you call Johnson a true # 1 RD. He isn't with Columbus, and if you believe in such ratings, he wouldn't be with the Leafs.
