Description
I would rather do anything but use the first, if we can’t package timmins and robo and get Carrier I don’t want to do anything and leafs likely don’t want to trade robo for a 3rd pair defender when robo has top 6 potential, maybe they just target someone cheaper like dumba or bush, walker isn’t even worth it with his current ask of 5M+ and he’s maybe as good as lily why does he deserve so much money? Carrier needs to be the number 1 target

This team isn’t winning anything this year they don’t deserve to have big spending done on the roster

You have Auston Matthews on this team along with Marner and Willy just entering or in their primes

You go for it

Who cares for the 1st we dont need prospects rn who are not gonna be NHL ready for 3+ years. Matthews wont be doing this forever

Well I kinda disagree. One reason the Leafs aren't true contenders is they keep on trading their picks for youngsters for upcoming UFAs. Then come the summer the Leafs are forced to try to find failing older UFA at prices. Instead of having good ELC players who play above their cap, Leaf get worse players to compliment the star.
Your could argue the Leafs were just as good when the had Matthews, Nylander and Matthews on their ELCs (losing in seven to to Bruins). cause they had so much cap to spend other players, well if they had spend that money wisely.
Actually next season the Leafs have a little more cap flexibilty., maybe that's a better chance of success rather than this year.

Difference there was when Matthews, Marner, and Nylander were on their ELC's Leafs management was to passive with their TDL moves

Brian Boyle
Thomas Plekenic

Like Lou never did anything to try and fix that awful Dcore and there was a good chance back in 2018 with JTM and McDonagh trade

In general prospects and ELC's are nice but so is winning a cup and our window aint big enough to wait for someone. We got Niemela, Greybokin, Minten, and Cowen good enough. Drafting top 4 Dman aint easy and were not gonna have a super high pick anyways. Spend the first on a nice Dman with term and go from there who can help now

Noah Hanifin, Rasmus Andersson, etc.
