The fifth and Wagner are cancelling nullities. Anaheim isn't interested in one season of Alex Iafallo and a future second for Adam Henrique with significant retention. Basically, three of the four elements (the amount of the retention, the pick and the additional player/prospect) are out of balance here.

You really don't need Henrique. If you want help at forward, there are likely cheaper options. Anaheim is trying to sell Henrique as a top 6 centre, so they want a premium for him.
Tanev for 2025 1st with top 10 protection and Schmidt. With only one year left, there shouldn't be much issue taking him. Also his salary is $1.1M less than his cap hit which should intrigue a team like Calgary. They wouldn't have to retain either and they get a replacement player to sell next deadline. The ask is for a 2nd but giving a 1st next year should be alright. Flames fans are going to say they want multiple for taking Schmidt but he is a replacement player who they can sell next deadline.
