Ya let's add two contracts that are likely to anchor the team and handcuff them in the future, all to still be a mediocre team that isn't a contender

We'll there's your opinion, and then there's the opinions of more knowledgeable people like Max Lapierre who says the Habs just need to add a couple (2) of top 7 forwards in order to be a playoff team.

With the amount of 1 goal games we've been in, the idea of adding an entire scoring line of Lindholm, Monahan, Dach, makes me think we score at least another 50 goals and since they are all relatively responsible defensively we can expect to prevent maybe 25 goals against.

A margin of 75 goals puts us in a position goal differential situation on it's own.

Now factor in player development and growth from guys like Slafkovsky, Newhook, Caufield, and Roy, we could be very competitive IMO.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your perspective. I do not believe in the Ottawa, Buffalo, Anaheim model, I much prefer the Detroit model of rebuild. Hence this post

I get it but even if that's the case they're still better to wait a year. Lindholm and Monahan are fine adds from for FAs this year but I'd rather go all out and sign Guentzel if they wanna go down this road.

Or they wait till next year where the FA crop is alot better. Most of them will get signed but next year has Ehlers, Verhagee, Marner, Ekblad, Marner, Crosby, Rantanen, Draistle, Benn, Boeser and even some elite dmen. Mix that with MTLs possible cap space and they could be real players for a game changer. Rather not spoil that opportunity because we signed Monahan and Lindholm for 13 million when that same 13 million could bring in an actual game breaker

Does an actual game breaker have no issue playing in Canada? Very few of those guys will actually hit the market and of the ones that do, they will be coveted around the league.

I wouldn't sleep on Rantanen/Draisaitl, but I mean C'mon! They will move heaven and earth to resign those guys.

That's what we don't know, who is willing to come. Rantanen and Leon are the dream, reality would probably someone like Verhagee, who I would also welcome with open arms
