Description
DISCLAMER:

This team edit is mainly considering this season and the potential playoff push. The picks and prospects sent were a calculation based on players stats and approximative value.

===

Duchene trade:

O’ Reilly already stated many times that he wishes to be traded away from Buffalo, and the absence of a trade clause to his current contract helps Colorado to get him for less effort.

Duchene is cheaper than O’ Reilly, but the real value here is Jost, which is the price to pay to get a veteran two-way forward such as O’ Reilly. Furthermore, We still have plenty of prospects (not shown on the roster, since they are in the minor leagues).

Read the additional details concerning the draft picks. No need to explain.

Johansson is simply a quick goalie prospect grab, which compensates in a way for all that we are sending. You never have enough goalie prospects (The Islanders got that a while ago).

===

Miller trade:

J.T. Miller is having a pretty good season start, but the rest of the Rangers are not following. Hence why getting him would be easier, since they are most likely to tank if they do not start winning more often before x-mas.

Yakupov and Colborne are basically cold trade value that we need to get rid of. Tonitato and Bigras are mid-value prospects which we do not need.

The deal breaker is the draft pick that we are sending. A 2019 2nd might not be enough to get Miller since he is a RFA. But in the additional details, it is stated that Colorado would need to add a 4th round pick (2018) if they make the playoffs. Which kind of takes care of that added RFA value.

===

Reway trade:

MTL recently buried his contract with them. His wishes is to go back to europe and figure out his career, which has been a bunch of bad lucks and health issues. Offering him a 2 year one-way contract for 750K would likely change his mind. Thing is, he would likely not play every game if no one gets injured, but he would still travel with the team and learn from the veterans on the team (A thing that MTL should have done… Freaking player development directors, hey?).

===

Florida trade:

That trade is kind of depending on the rest of the season, so it was made simply out of prospect value calculations. Florida being in dire need of NHL ready prospects, sending these 4 guys would help them fill that need.

In exchange, we would get an insurance for the draft picks lost in the previous transactions.

AJ Greer being the biggest trade value, he pretty much covers the 3rd round pick. We don’t need him right now but Florida does.

Cheers!

    RIGHT! He didnt get along with Landeskog and was sort of jealous/pissed that he was named captain over him.
