Nope Detroit would definitely decline, The whole reason of trading Maatta is to open more cap space to sign some of our UFAs. This trade only saves us $1,000,000 with the addition of Noel Acciari who we really have zero need for.

I would rather keep Acciari and his physicality and penalty killing prowess. He will be better with more speed on his line, as opposed to Jeff Carter’s stone skates. Id also rather roster Joseph and/or Shea at the 3rd pair LHD spot for under $1 million anyway.

Maatta was chased out of PIT because he can't skate. He's slow as hell.
The same can be said about Mantha.
They just don't need slow players. They need speed and fresh legs.
This team needs to bite the bullet and play more youth. They refuse to. It's not helping their cause.
But hey, after tomorrow the season might be over. So no use caring now.
