Description
Assuming another underwhelming resulting finish, a new direction has to be in order. Starting with a different head coach and Seabrook's buyout, Kane, as the only legitimate trade value, becomes the ultimate sacrifice goat. He is not the reason for this team's demise but is the only player who can actually bring back a proper return. Tavares simply chooses not to re-sign with the Isle and Snow gets the best possible return. Keeping in mind Seabrook's buyout cap hit will fluctuate especially after year two, most of the subsequent signings will also be for two years, hoping the cap limit increases accordingly to sustain that buyout cost later on. Chicago has made some very foolish choices in recent years and may never dig themselves out and become relavent again, IMO. However, without major changes, this team may not even make the playoffs after this season...

Kane has NMC, I doubt he is moving. If you have cap space, better to Seabrook (he's still effective) although a buyout might be viable option in future years.
Horni might want 5m, but would there be any takers?

Of all the Hawks with those damn NMC, Kane is the most likely to be professional enough to waive his tho. Seabrook and Crawford have personal reasons in their private lives to never waive. Keith is a recapture risk, Toews -- which team wants that on-ice production for a 1LC at $10.5M? Anisimov is in his last year with NMC but is a bit pricey as a 3LC on other teams. Kane for Tavares could be great for both clubs although NYI would be short an elite center. However, should he informed them his intention of testing free agency, why not add a guy like Kane if available?

Seabrook is so difficult to watch. I actually cringe every time he is on the ice. If he's not falling on his own, he is getting beat regardless. He's got that great snow angel move but is also out of position when it doesn't work. And to think how many more years of this? Holy fuke!!

Hornqvist may be a pipe dream but who knows if the Hawks actually got their center men up to today's NHL standards?!
