Marner seems like a really solid fit along Strome long term but he would also aid Ovie on his quest for 895. McMichael and Minten can battle it out for 2C/3C when Tavares contract is up. The 17th OA could either bring in a solid future piece (Hage/Greentree etc.) or be bundled with their own 1st to move up, or used in a trade to bring in another piece to the roster. TVR is a really good 3rd pair RHD and a solid but not spectacular 2nd pair RHD who easily can slide over to the left if needed.

Hayton struggled a bit this year that ended early with an injury, but has upside and seems like a player Caps could target. He’s in the right age-group and has a draft pedigree but haven’t been able to put it all together consistently. He signs a 1 year deal like Strome/Milano did before they were extended.

Hronek is looking for his payday and have been a great fit with Hughes but I doubt that Vancouver feels comfortable paying him more then Hughes though, while the Caps could really use him as the long term replacement for Carlsson (maybe not production-wise) and take some hard minutes from him the next two years. Sandin-Hronek also seems like a good fit. Vancouver get back what they paid for Hronek plus Jensen with retention to play on the 2nd/3rd pair.
