Description
A potential direction for the Canucks as they look to replace the Sedins next season. The trades likely need to be balanced with other assets and/or picks (although they're being made with two often criticized GM's who are likely to get desperate the longer their teams stay out of the playoff picture). Still, I'm more interested in discussing RNH and Chucky as potential pieces in the Canuck's rebuild and players listed below are just the primary pieces that could be used, at least as a starting point. The Sedins have been deployed outside the starting lineup to represent how the team could potentially look going in to 2018/2019.
Trades
1.
VAN
  1. De La Rose, Jacob
  2. Galchenyuk, Alex
Additional Details:
Last season, VAN was hesitant to move veteran players and turn things over to the kids. During Edler's latest injury, Hutton and Pouloit proved that at least one of them can step into his shoes on any given night. It's time to give them a chance. Among Bergevin's many mistakes, he and his coaching staff have severely diminished the value of Alex Galchenyuk. VAN should try and take advantage.
MTL
  1. Edler, Alexander
  2. Gagner, Sam
Additional Details:
MTL needs a top 6 center and a top pair left D. While these are not long term solutions for the Habs, Bergevin makes another bad move in a last ditched effort to make MTL a playoff contender and save his job. If Edler doesn't waive his NTC, then Del Zotto could be moved in his stead.
2.
VAN
  1. Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan
Additional Details:
Sutter waives his NTC to be even closer to home in Alberta and gets an early return on Vanek.
EDM
  1. Sutter, Brandon ($475,000 retained)
  2. Vanek, Thomas
Additional Details:
EDM adds a scoring winger while retaining center depth, allowing Draisaitl to move to 2nd line center with Sutter on the 3rd. Vanek is a rental yes, but EDM still needs to shed salary if they have any hope of keeping the rest of the team together.

Anyone that has watched NHL hockey in the past six years or so, knows Gagner is not a top 6 centre. His six points in 20 games is surpassed by Matt Martin.

"Take advantage of Bergevin" - just like all those people who said "Take advantage if Sakic" right?................... He's desperate for a good trade, not a bad one. That's only gonna get him fired quicker........
