Quoting: The_Rocket
rumour is that both pesce and necas could be on their way out. this trade gets them a top pairing dman to replace pesce and the can re-sign guentzel with the cap space gained letting both players go.

Love it when you're sighting both Yahoo AND Seravalli. Both could go, but Pesce expressed again in his exit interview his eagerness to stay. For reference, Skjei said he wants a fair offer and it likely going to test the market, so I thoroughly believe Pesce when he says he wants to be back. He's better than Hronek, and the Canes can keep him. Right now, everyone is guessing on what the Canes do because they are so heartless in negotiations.
Necas is different. He's *probably* done in Carolina, but they don't have to take pennies on the dollar for him like this. He's arbitration eligible so they can force a deal. They can keep Pesce, Jarvis, Necas, and Guentzel with the cap space they have because the prospect pipeline is so good. Nadeau, Blake, Morrow, Unger Sorum, Nikishin and even Seeley could fill in if needed, so there's not exactly a big issue with filling the roster out. They can keep everyone, so don't expect a cut-rate price
