I'd be pretty certain that they'd make the cap work in a single trade because PIT isn't giving up Sprong for replacement-level guys. That said, my guess is Buffalo would start with a 1st round pick and work from there.

IMO the Blues would "win" the trade if they could get Kane for a 2019 1st + Walman/Schmaltz + Gunnarsson. I think realistically it will take an additional prospect (not named Kyrou/Thomas/Thompson/Kostin/Barbashev).

The retained salary may up the cost, but maybe not, since not many playoff teams have $5.25M in cap space laying around.

Also, inb4 the "character" comments. I don't think the off-ice stuff has any meaning at this point. At 26, the immature crap is probably over, and this guy scores goals. And maybe the lack of effort is because he's gotten tired of losing all the time wink.

Just saw Pitt has a need for a defensive Dman and a back up. Idk what a return would be, but he's not one of there best young guys that I've heard of, so I picked him.
I see Walman as a great chip be moved since i can't see he and Dunn both on this team going forward. Don't think a rental should cost much more then a great piece like him (and I doubt we'd choose to miss picking in the 1st round in back to back years)

I agree with both. I too did a Blues trade involving Evander Kane, I think it starts with a 1st then a high end prospect, that is what most high end rentals go for, and then Blues would have to give up a little more for the salary retention and or taking Gunanrson.
Kane with salary retained for:
Barbashev/Walman, Gunnarson a 1st and a 4th. Also helps that Gunnarson is not horrible and his cap is not outrageous.
