Eller is on pace for close to 40 points (hes having a great year) The only way that trade happens is if caps are completely out of the playoffs and I think his value is higher than that. He has similar stats to Hanzal last year and Hanzal cost a first rounder.

Trade Hanzal and white for a 1st 2nd conditional 4th and a ahler

He would get a 1st or at least the 2 2nd rounders it cost to get him

Ok. Just saw a trade sending Eller to Anaheim for a 2nd and a 3rd. So I figured I would try it out from Anaheim’s perspective. Understand why he isn’t likely to be moved and Washington would want more.

It really doesn't, this trade has been suggested so many times. Vatanen wouldn't be the target MTL would want. The Habs need a LEFT HANDED top 4 defensemen. Unless someone magically takes Petry and his contract away from MTL, Habs says no.

Also, It's become clear to EVERYONE that ANA are willing to trade Vatanen over any of their other Dman (Fowler, Lindholm, Montour, Manson). because of that, even if Vatanen is a solid Dman, his value is decreased. CBJ is having the same issue with Murray, it's become clear to everyone that they would rather move him than Jones, Savard, Werenski, Johnson, so again, sadly his value goes down. So right now for teams like ANA and CBJ it's more beneficial to just keep a strong 5 Dman core than trade either Vatanen or Murray because they won't get full value for them.

So MTL declines the deal. But if ever Petry goes and a need shows up for a RD , maybe Habs would listen.
