Description
This would be an interesting trade for both teams, I think. Montreal gets a right handed center who can also play as a right winger, and who is pretty good at faceoffs. They also get a left-handed shutdown defenseman who is tradable (unlike Hanifin) and who can skate. Carolina gets a left winger/center/right winger who can play anywhere on the lineup and who has pure offensive talent (power play) and an even younger defenseman who also has tremendous skating ability and who has adapted pretty well to the NHL.
Trades
MTL
  1. Fleury, Haydn
  2. Lindholm, Elias
  3. 2019 6th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
If Victor Mete plays less than 50 games in 2018-2019, both teams keep their original draft picks involved in the trade.
CAR
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
  2. Mete, Victor
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
If Victor Mete plays less than 50 games in 2018-2019, both teams keep their original draft picks involved in the trade.

Not sure why we would trade mete for Fleury if we need puck moving D...

Think this remains the best option:

I get the logic behind this but if Carolina is moving Fleury in this deal, they won't want another dman in Mete back. They already have a ton of dmen. They would want Poehling or something.

Lindholm
Fleury
for
Galchenyuk
Poehling

Maybe a draft pick on somebody's side to even up any differences.

Well, the deal has to be interesting for both teams. They get two different defensemen who can play in their own right. If Mete is pretty good in Carolina (Not good like Sergachev, but pretty close), the Carolina Hurricanes can move one of their other defensemen (Faulk, Hanifin), more easily, to get a center, which they cannot do if they were to keep Fleury. Also, Victor Mete is not big. Fleury is, and he can bring interesting physical play to the habs.

Poehling doesn't have an entry level contract yet. It all depends on Marc Bergevin to sign Poehling.

He could still trade just his rights. Don't have to sign him. Either way signing him wouldn't be that big of a deal if needed I don't think.
