Montreal says no and pens say no for sure. If Montreal could get that for Plekanec, then they would just cut out the middle man (coyotes). It’s not like they are in cap trouble and can’t just retain on Plekanec themselves. And if pens are giving up a 2018 1st, they will just go after someone better than Plekanec who is scoring at a 4th liner rate.

What makes you think you can get Grubauer, a 1st and a couple other things while giving up just a top 4 D and a backup goalie

Agreed, Pens and Habs say no. Your not getting a 1st for Plekanec, I don't even think a 3rd fits the bill.

Also Tobias Rieder is worth way more than Marko Dano!

Here would be a better idea:
Montreal trades Plekanec to Az while retaining 3,000,000 for a 2019 2nd round pick. That’s all for that trade.
Then AZ trades Plekanec (1,500,000 retained), Luke Schenn, Brad Richardson to the pens for a 2019 1st round pick, J.S Dea, And Carl Hagelin.
AZ trades Hagelin (2,000,000 retained) for a 2018 2nd round pick to whoever wants a speedy winger.
Montreal gets probably more for plekanec than they would anywhere else and don’t have to take 2 worthless contracts that are worth maybe 5th round picks at best. AZ would essentially get 2 2nds and a 1st and a prospect for Plekanec and a couple of useless contracts while also making it a little easier to reach the cap floor next year.
