The Habs would only trade Price for Tavares, but the Halak trade sounds good to me.

Not sure why you think you have plenty of cap space with Price contract going up and Tavares signing for 12 as you say. You have quite a few ufa’s and rfa’s to sign. Even if the cap goes to 80 next year you’d have to make some choices. Not thst it matters as Habs pass on this one.

I'm a habs fan really wouldn't care to see price leave I would accept this, not happy to pay him $10.5M for 8 more years when backup goalies are outplaying him right now. Price has full NMC though so he would have to accept the trade as well.

Agree with the other poster.. this team wouldn't work with the cap next year unless you gave up some players or made some other moves.
