Doubt buffalo would accept that. Kane alone would fetch a first and Bowey. What’s more valuable...a Florida and Washington 2nd or a Washington first? For me... a first.

Buffalo would rather have scandella than Burakovsky. They are so thin on D. And Orpik has negative value.

It’s not a TERRIBLE trade... but I don’t think buffalo would do it

The price, if dropping at all, won’t be literally scraps.

Scandella isn’t being traded and aside from an extra first we aren’t taking Orpik’s contract

Didn’t catch Bowery, on a phone. However it doesn’t change that we aren’t trading Scandella or picking up Orpik’s contract barring a 2nd becoming a 1st

Absolutely not. We're not in a position to give up a potential top-four defenseman and a solid top six winger for Kane and Scandella. We'd have to have an extension in place with him. Burakovsky is a great young talent, and he's really heating up. The shot generation he had today was outstanding. Kane just doesn't fit into our long term plans like Burakovsky does, and the same thing goes with Scandella. Our future defense can look like this

Johansen-Carlson
Orlov-Bowey
Djoos-Hobbs
(plus Niskanen that we'll probably buy out during the lockout so it doesn't count against the cap)

Moving out Bowey for Scandella throws this off, and we actually have our defense of the future set. Not to mention, Buffalo still passes really quickly on this deal.
