I’d let hornqvist walk. We’ll need the cap if we want to potentially resign brassard the following season. Guzental is due for a pay raise as well.

Price for Kane is dropping and I think the Caps could land him fasho
Doubt buffalo would accept that. Kane alone would fetch a first and Bowey. What’s more valuable...a Florida and Washington 2nd or a Washington first? For me... a first.
Buffalo would rather have scandella than Burakovsky. They are so thin on D. And Orpik has negative value.
It’s not a TERRIBLE trade... but I don’t think buffalo would do it

Sheary is having an offseason but he is still a good player lmao Orpik has NEGATIVE value and pens simply aren’t going to give sheary away. Highest even strength PPG in the league last year. He’s a good player having a bad year. Terrible deal for pit

Replace letang with Schultz and it’s fair. You gotta remember Karlsson is a UFA in 2 years... letang is a UFA in 5. That’s a HUGEEEE difference

Trying to win it this year with everything they got.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Oh, you're one of those.
He plays 20 minutes a night with 42% offensive zone starts, 8 points, and 160 hits on a division leader. The Caps are 4-0-0 in games when Orpik plays at least 23 minutes.
Yes, Slavin is better, but Orpik is the kind of leader with a Cup ring and a chip on his shoulder who teams pay out the nose for at this time of year. For all we know, he could fetch Slavin straight up.</div></div>
Orpik couldn’t even fetch TVR let alone slavin. He 100% has negative value. If Washington could move him... they would

Johansen is a recent first round pick, currently 45th among defensemen in scoring in the AHL There are eight rookies ahead of him at that level (<a href="https://theahl.com/stats/player-stats/all-teams/57?playertype=skater&position=defencemen&rookie=no&sort=points&statstype=standard&page=1&league=4" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://theahl.com/stats/player-stats/all-teams/57?playertype=skater&position=defencemen&rookie=no&sort=points&statstype=standard&page=1&league=4</a>).
Christian Djoos, the guy who narrowly him for an NHL spot out of camp, led Hershey in playoff scoring last year, and is 6th among NHL rookie defenseman in points. Lucas Johansen is going to be good.
<a href="https://www.nhl.com/news/lucas-johansen-sees-opportunity-to-make-washington-capitals-next-season/c-290190816" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.nhl.com/news/lucas-johansen-sees-opportunity-to-make-washington-capitals-next-season/c-290190816</a></div></div>
confused Johnson for someone else so yeah he’s a good prospect but... last season slavin was Carolina’s best D. No way they move him. Orpik isn’t as good as TVR either. Not a good trade for Carolina either way.

I don’t think Carolina would make that deal if you take Slavin out of it... let alone adding him in!!! Carolina gets absolutely ripped off
Nash and domi are worth way more than that as well. All 3 trades heavily in Washington’s favour

What next season looks like after the last post
Trade 1- As good as backstrom is, he’s 30 years old. He also has only 3 seasons left on his current deal. Montreal is trading young top 6 players in galchenyuk and Gallagher, an ex first round pick in julsson, AND a potential top 5 overall pick. Just doesn’t make any sense for them.
Trade 2- this one is actually decently fair. I’d rather have domi but it’s a fair enough trade
Trade 3- oshies contract is so bad in a few years. Edmonton probably wouldn’t take Oshie for free due to cap concerns in a few seasons. Lucic plus oshie making almost 12 million In a couple seasons will be BAD! Plus pulvaraji is a fourth overall pick. EDM ain’t giving up on him. Grubauer is nice but he doesn’t make up the difference
Trade 4- id rather have galcheyuk way over fabbri. So you guys lose this one

18-19 80million cap. Read
1- zero chance you get TJ for a rental player.
2- The gap between trouba and orlovs value is more than a second and vanecek
3- actually like this trade a lot for both parties. But IF it were to happen... caps would have to resign Carlson
4- klefbom is having an off year but he’s shown us last year that he has the ability to play as a #1D. EDM won’t sell low on him. Burakovsky hasn’t proven nearly as much as klefbom has
5- don’t think Vegas wants that contract
6- pretty fair deal

karlsson fair value?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>he 100% is going UFA already been declared he's going to the highest bidder
if anything given his age and term this is overpaying in Context unless he agree's to sign with TBL for 9m or less there is no chance he can re-sign in TBL</div></div>
its so hard to gauge a player like thats value. some people will think its an overpayment, some will think its an under, some will think its just right. I guess we have to wait and see what ends up happening with this situation. a karlsson trade is probably the most difficult realistic trade to put a value on
