Replace letang with Schultz and it’s fair. You gotta remember Karlsson is a UFA in 2 years... letang is a UFA in 5. That’s a HUGEEEE difference

Actually I think Ottawa would much prefer to take Letang. They’ve shown a willingness to make moves to acquire players with guaranteed contracts specifically to avoid having to negotiate new contracts. Having Letang on a 5 year term means they basically get to keep him until he’s old enough to let walk, as opposed to Karlsson who could demand 2x what Letang makes now.

I like letang but consider how fragile he can be i can see pitts letting him go. For 2 playoff runs with karlsson it might be worth it. Resigning him well probably not but its not crazy.
