Additional Details:
I could be way off on this, so if so my fault. Florida is in playoffs as of now and should make it since they have games in hand. Don’t see them beating Tampa in a 7 game series this season, but maybe if they keep the team they have and add Zucc and Hayes next year they can go far? Again I could be way off on the value here, especially since if NYR allow Hayes to just walk as a RFA they’d get a 1 and 3 and trading Zucc can get a player and a pick.
2.
NYR
  1. 2020 3rd round pick (SJS)
SJS
  1. Smith, Brendan ($1,350,000 retained)
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (NYR)
  3. 2020 5th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Negative value trade and eat some $. Realistically I do think Smith had a terrible repoirt with AV and Ruff etc. Smith came into camp overweight so he is also at fault and just feel like he’s in the doghouse. Do think with a new staff he could make the team next year as a 3rd pairing dman. I put the Sharks bc i randomly scrolled and clicked on them, but any team that’d be able to use a $3M 3rd pairing maybe 2nd pairing dman actually could benefit towards playoffs. NYR are rebuilding so they are trying to go younger.

Trust me all teams want to avoid cap hell, but these players want their term and money, and that’s the challenge in FA. It’s finding the perfect balance in a contract that u and the player can both accept.

If you mean Borgstrom for the Panthers trade, you're basically asking the Panthers to give up the 2 best prospects in their system, plus a roster player. I've seen teams make some bad "win now" moves, but I don't see the Panthers ever doing this. Plus, it's not like they are in a position where they are true contenders yet. They are still battling to just be a playoff team.
