Description
Assuming Hanzal is not healthy to start the year; Nichushkin does come back to Dallas (no confirmation yet); and that the Salary Cap will go up to $78M. With this set up, you get a top 6 of deadly snipers, playmakers and ultimately net fillers, a bottom 6 of hard, shut down players who also have strong potential to fill the score sheet. Next a Defensive group that remains for the most part but with good young additions that should make a splash. With Honka and Heatherington now in, this group should still be able to keep the opposition to a minimum. Lastly, Hutch comes in to fill Kari's spot and takes over as the everyday backup. With this move, should Bishop get hurt (knock on wood), Hutch has strong potential to still be a decent starter not just a mediocre backup.

I see some potential and merit here. This is close to what probably will happen.

But what about Heiskanen, for example? I think he should be in our system next year. Also probably some young guns from AHL, like Hintz or Gurianov should maybe get a chance.

4 stars for solid idea.

Fair, Heiskanen should and will get a good look at next year, and Nill even said that he will come to North America next season. The reason I left him out was because he hadn't played North American style hockey. So give him a year, and then in 2019-2020 he takes Methot's spot when his contract expires. As for Hintz and Gurianov, I think it will come down to who is better between them, Elie, Dickinson, and Ritchie. Out of those 5 I think the latter three will make the cut due to their experience and potential. Otherwise yes I think Hintz and Gurianov will get a good look and a good chance. Thanks for the comment!

Heiskanen should probably start in the AHL next season, just to get used to North American ice. I agree with 95% of this. I'm one of the few that think Janmark deserves that much money. May be pricy up front, but he'll likely be a $5M+ player by years 4 & 5 of that deal. Only thing I would do differently is that I'd give Gemel Smith the same contract as Heatherington, and I'd put him on the 4th line and do my best to trade Ritchie. Other than that, this is spot on. Shore's contract may be slightly overpriced, but I'm just glad I finally found a scenario on this website that doesn't make me question the intelligence of Stars fans.

I think Janmark is in the same boat as Klingberg and is 100% worth that kind of money. Think about it, the guy takes a year off due to medical reasons and then comes back the following year like nothing happened. To me, this benefits both parties as Janmark will get a fair/little bit more than what is normally given and the Stars organizations will get a good long term deal out of it as well.
