Description
This is also my belief that Marc Staal Full NMC becomes partial NTC on 7-1. I’ve seen conflicting reports so bare with me.
Smith also could be a trade candidate if he plays well during the season and NYR decide they want to bring up Day or Hajek during the season.

Additional Details:
Really have no idea what a Staal trade can look like, but I know NYR would have to retain and it’d be negative value. Minnesota just lost Suter and who knows how long if it carries over to next year. Staal nowadays is a solid 2/3 pairing dman. Sheltered minutes, he played well for NYR last season. I’m just using Minnesota as a destination because Eric is there. Value/ team could be off so don’t rip me too hard for this one. A buyout would be a 6 year disaster and during a rebuild, buying one out isn’t intelligent. It also gives Staal a chance to go to a contender for his final 3 years of his mega contract.

I saw in the from other posters on this site DeAngelo for Russel as a basis, or DeAngelo for Benning as a basis etc.
Rangers are re-building and Skjei is a top 4 LHD and so is Klefbom. Zuccarello would be ideal for McDavid as he’s a playmaker and I’m sure McD won’t take Zuccarello’s pass first garbage. DeAngelo is a solid young dman who maybe just never had the right coach? Does Rangers taking Lucic help in this case as he’s not producing with EDM?

I could see Klef, Lucic, and Edm’s 2018 1st for Zuc, DeAngelo, plus Tampa/Boston’s 1st (the one who loses 1st in the playoffs).

if we are taking lucic contract, trading zucc and deangelo for klefbom, and sending two late first rounders, we are getting the 9th overall atm from edmonton-- horrid for the rangers in so many ways

edit: and that may not be enough still

Yeah I’m just not sure, maybe sending one of the firsts, but getting EDM first as well?
