Trying to fix this a lil bit

Draft Day
Hanifin Trade: Hanifin has been around rumors for about a year now, I'm hoping the Isles give him a hard look as he would be a perfect player to alleviate some pressure off the left side for Leddy. The Canes need scoring bad (23rd in Goals For), Nelson would be their highest scoring center (goal wise) immediately out of the gate. In addition to that, the Isles also trade the higher of their 1st rounders along with one of their better defensive prospects in Vande Sompel and a guy who I think needs a change of scenery in Dal Colle to fill a huge need. Plus a Hanifin-Pulock combination is making my mouth water.

Trading back into the 1st round: Not really sure where he's gonna end up falling, but I'm a big fan of Jacob Olofsson. He's been around a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick in almost every mock draft. Isles could easily send a 2nd and 3rd to snag him or even if he falls to Day maybe a 2nd and 4th/5th get it done.

Pelech Trade: I don't really think there's a spot for Pelech on this team. I'm hoping some team is looking at him as a defenseman on a cheap contract, locked up for 3 more years with room to grow. Too many left handed defenseman in the Isles system I'd rather play than him.

Day 1/Possibly 2 Picks:
12th: Dobson/Smith/Bouchard
Late 1st/Early 2nd: Olofsson

Free Agency
It's been rumored that Garth has been exploring a ton of options overseas, if I had to guess he's probably looking for a defenseman that can hopefully jump right into the NHL or fight for a spot. I've been doing a bunch of researching and Ivan Vereshchagin (KHL) looks like he could fit that role. He's 23, has good size and just enjoyed a bit of a breakout year with Sibir Novosibirsk. (22 Points in 50 games)
If Garth was looking for forwards, center would probably be his position of interest as I'd say the Isles are fairly well off on wingers. 2 players I could see the Isles signing are Alexei Byvaltsev (KHL, 24, C, 43P in 56GP) and/or Dominik Kahun (DEL, 22, C/LW, 41P in 42GP)

Emil Garipov (KHL) is apparently a goalie the Isles have their eyes on since losing Koskinen to Edmonton, he's said to command more than Koskinen as he's younger and posted similar numbers.
30-16-2 .932 SV% 1.95 GAA

Addressing the 3C Hole: Ideally the Isles would sign one of Byvaltsev or Kahun to a contract and have them compete for a spot in camp, if they're not ready they have options in the system and there's always the possibility of a late signing. If I had to sign one though it'd probably be Byvaltsev as he looks like the more NHL ready player, Kahun definitely has the higher ceiling if he could just gain some weight.

Davidson: He played a fantastic shutdown role for the Isles in his short time here, I'd be fully willing to bring him back on an affordable bridge deal.

Conclusion
As long as the team stays healthy, I'm fairly optimistic about them for next year. 3 possible lethal scoring lines and a shut down line. The defense already looks a lot better with Hanifin and a full year of Davidson should be a boost to the defensive side of the Isles as well. Hopefully Greiss isn't as bad as he was last year and Garipov can be a serviceable 1B compliment.
And as far as next year, I think the Isles should end up buying out Clutterbuck to alleviate some cap.

I looked all over to try and find fair value for Hanifin and couldn't find any middle ground. Some thought he should be traded for futures and other wanted a 1 for 1 deal. I tried to make some middle ground.

No idea, but he's been the sources of some rumors, especially last offseason and fits a huge need for the Isles. Plus the Canes are stacked on the backend with McKeown, Fleury, Bean, Pesce, and Slavin all 23 or younger

Complete shot in the dark idea here, but what about this deal?

      NYI gets:
      RFA Rights to Hanifin
      Carolina's 2018 1st Round Pick

      CAR gets:
      Anders Lee
      RFA rights to Brock Nelson
      Mitchell Vande Sompel

NYI fills a short term hole on defense and gets a third 1st round pick, with which they could use to trade up for an even better pick or simply nab a 3rd high round prospect. Losing Anders Lee will hurt, but I think Beauvillier is ready for increased minutes, Bellows looks like the real deal and Ho-Sang is ready for his REAL rookie season. Isles still have enough offense to do damage after this deal.

CAR gets two fantastic goal scorers (Lee a 40 goal scorer, Brock a frequent 20 goal scorer) and an above average defensive prospect. Hanifin is a great talent, don't get me wrong, but the returns from dealing his rights would go a very long way in adding the offense they desperately need.
