STL trade happens at the deadline with the idea that the blues are good and going for it, Staal has another good year and MN is out of it and wants assets for him before trying to resign him next year to a 3 year deal.

See but I hear this about Kyrou, Thomas and Klostin. Feels a tad unrealistic to have three untouchable prospects but none cracked the NHL last year. Of the future stars, feels like if the blues want to make a move they'll pick the one they like least and move him. So I guess swap him out for Thomas if that's how you feel.

Looks like a Forsberg-Erat type deal. Renting Staal for 1 playoff run at the cost of a blue-chip prospect and a 1st wouldn't be the best idea for the Blues IMO. Adding a big-name center would be huge, but we'll be looking for someone with term (or that we can get a few more good years out of if we extend them).

I think Cane is coming in a little high on Dumba AAV but we'll see.

Are you saying since we didn't play two 18-year-olds or a 19-year old in the NHL last year that it's time to move on from them? I think our mgmt is playing the next few years pretty conservatively unless a great offer comes along. I think I agree with you that they'll move on from one, but Kyrou and Thomas, the OHL regular season MVP and OHL playoff MVP should be the ones we keep (PLEASE ARMSTRONG don't eff this up).

I mean it has the potential to be a bad trade for the Blues, but I assume we'll see him and the other kids in the lineup this year a bit so we'll know what he looks like against NHLers by then, plus Erat had 4 goals 17 assists the year they traded Forsberg for him, Staal had 40 this year and unless he falls off a cliff he'll have significantly more than Erat did. But I see your point, this move would be going all in.

I agree and hope you're right on dumba, and for zucker I hope they give him more term to cut the AAV
