Well, you didn't sign a bunch of RFA's that will be on the team or in AHL and you made a breathtakingly bad trade for Buffalo.

Guhle is a very good prospect who will likely play borderline 2nd pair minutes next year for buffalo. McCabe is a good young defenseman and we aren't trading 1st round picks.

How is Guhle going to play 2nd pairing minutes? I wouldn't put him in place of Dahlin, Scandella, or Beaulieu on the left side. He's not playing more than Ristolinen and if Tanev is acquired he's not playing more than him and arguably not even Bogosian

yea, beaulieu is terrible and was a healthy scratch half the season.

i also said borderline 2nd pair minutes.

Again, look. Beaulieu was terrible, Guhle looked more interesting last season and he is much more promising, maybe he will start the season in AHL, and maybe will play in the third pair with Bogosyan or Nelson. This trade is strange, I like Goldobin, but Tanev, who is constantly injured, but we've still got Bogosian who is more injured, this protection does not work, a huge risk to come into the new season with this defense. Why do we need Nilsson then? We can sign the goalkeeper of UFA, there are a lot of different options.

I see what you're saying about the defense. That's a good point about the injury liabilities. For the sake of devil's advicate, I would say that a rejuvinated lineup and Dahlin would bring a spark to Beaulieu's game. He was terrible probably from lack of confidence.
As far as the Nilsson acquisition, I felt having a 1A and 1B tandem would be best because if Ullmark isn't capable of playing true #1 games played next year, what would the second option be? CAR faced that problem this year when Darling's workload was more than he's ever faced. I feel that the splitting of time in net would avoid that problem and would create a healthy competition that would elevate both goalies' games.
