I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Alzner was a FA signing so you wouldn't be able to remove that one

why? both are injury prone players and don't provide a lot to their teams when injured but when healthy can add second line depth

Fair EK Trade with New Jersey
You could get much more for EK. Another 1st and quality prospect (Bratt or McLeod or Spears) would still go through considering how much of a comodity EK is

Keeping The Kids
Assuming he has a good season, Lindholm will remain as the 4th line C. Also, why would Zaitsev be moved down to 3rd pair for a FA when TOR will be pressed for cap? I'm assuming you let him walk to FA but why would you not trade Gardiner?

Blow it up
I like how you acquired Tkatchuk from CGY. Having the bros on one team would be nasty.
I don't understand why you didn't acquire a draft pick in any of those trades. Not getting a first back for EK is insane. You could end up with 4 or 5 1st after these trades if you do it right. I'd take that over a bunch of prospects, no matter how good they are

Gaborik still has a horiible contract... just not as bad as Backes which is why I thought it would make sense as BOS needs the cap space

PHI, BOS, STL, EK trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastMode5515</b></div><div>Boston passes</div></div>
Carlo had 6 points last year, Backes has undesirable contract. Getting Gaborik adds top 6 depth and has better contract than Backes, JGP gives center depth and Chlapik is solid prospect to add to trade since Carlo is included

I figured they could use Smith as center depth and Anderson as a better backup than Johnson

I didn't know that about Kesler. That would really affect this layout. Yeah I think MTL should get Henrique regardless because ANA really doesn't need him and hes a FA this upcoming summer anyway

Well with the cap situation and Marleau's salary it comes down to Marleau or one of the more promising players with a brighter future. Easy decision

If we are trading for Karlsson
As a Flyers fan I was very happy to see that we are one of the teams in consideration for EK. As much as I hate seeing Ghost go, I think this setup looks great.
The trade looks great and realistic. The only issue I see is that Karlsson, Provorov would likely be the top pair with Sanheim, Myers as the second. As much as I hate AMac, he had an A this year and would be in the lineup.
Lastly, do you think the Flyers can resign EK? There are a lot of FAs in this setup that could cause some setbacks

Karlsson (Erik)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>t4tree</b></div><div>Seems like a fair deal for Karlsson although you should get a guarantee that he will resign or that will be a huge waste of assets. I would try to do the deal, without retaining on Lucic, as you need space to resign Karlsson, Talbot, and potentially a decent for Pulju depending on how he does.</div></div>
I agree with that. I figured that there would be no way that OTT would be willing to take Lucic contract in full bc they are already dealing with Ryan. Hypothetically, Talbot doesn't get risgined becuase he has another sub-par year and Koskinen plays really well. Obviously Karlsson contract would be big too but that's why I traded Russell now to make room for that.

“Major overhaul”
Need to give up more for Stone and the Kessel trade should be more cap friendly (unintentional pun) so that PIT can gain some cap room from trading Kessel. if that trade goes through, PIT is only gaining 633,333 in cap space. Not enough to give up Kessel

I'm aware of the win-now mentality, just wanted to present a hypothetical situation. How is the value not even? VAN pick is at #7 and Guianov was picked at 12 with a lot of upside still. What else would you add to it from DAL side

I think it works for both teams. CGY gets veteran D to help with stability and can afford his cap while WSH gets low cap, role player for depth in lineup. Felt that this is good for both teams to get something for either player while they still can

What would you say about something like Nino + 24 OA + Olofsson for 5 OA + Nick Merkley?</div></div>
If I were ARI I would only want to give up #5 if I got another top 10 pick in return. Nino is a great top 6 forward but not enough to be traded for #5
