Description
This is obviously meant to be troll but if you're thinking about moving Karlsson for a rebuild then stop toying around at the chance of finishing 10th in the conference and eat two bad contracts from EDM and CHI to get two more top 10 picks in this years really strong draft class and then fully commit to it by moving Stone and Duchene. Although this is troll and dumb as hell today, the hope of tomorrow with Walhstrom, Boquist (4&5) and 2 of who ever is left from Dobson, Bouchard, Kotkaniemi, Hughes, at 8 and 10. from this draft class to go along with Brown, Strome, White, Puljujarvi, Chychrun, Chabot, Wolanin, Batherson, Formenton, Luchuck, Chaplik, Gagne, Jaros + the 4 blue chips from Vegas and (excluding next year's first round) the following 3-4 years of top 3-5 picks + Gustavsson in net and tell me you don't think you could make a contender for years from those names.

there's definitely value behind this idea, but I think you went a bit too hard on it. including the bad contracts the sens already had (Ryan, Gaborik, Anderson) that totals up to about 33 million dollars in bad cap space. assuming the cap goes up to 80 mil, that is 42% of the cap. and Sure Andy comes off the books before you need to really worry about signing a lot of people, but the rest don't.

It's 5-6 years before this year's draft class would need a raise. 2-3 years before they would join the big club + 3 years of ELC. Ryan has 4 Lucic has 5 and Seabrook has 6. Like you mentioned Andy has 2 and Gaborik has 3.

All of the youth now are still full ELC and the ones that aren't Strome, Puljujarvi, White you could keep on cheaper bridge RFA contracts that you could schedule to expire with one of these bad contracts. This is also assuming Gaborik doesn't spend the rest of the term on LTIR. But yes, I went full right or full left not sure where the politics on this works out and went to the furthest extreme. I don't think the deals even Seabrook's at 6 years would be an issue. There is always the option to dump years 5-6 onto another team down the road as well.

Euge gets to save 15mil from the ceiling for a couple seasons and when wins start to matter again, the new owner pays for those guys to play in the AHL and the 21-25 year old youth take over. I personally, don't believe that development philosophy works which is the downfall to a plan like this, you need the best pros like Karlsson and Duchene and Stone to teach the youth trying to break in but I thought this was a fun idea to see just the quantity of quality youth that could potentially be acquired in the span of 12minutes.
