Toronto would be much better served by keeping Kadri and Nylander and trading for a less expensive more defensive minded defenceman who can kill penalties. Not that Parakyo isn't a great player, its just a guy like Chris Tanev wouldn't cost anyone roster players and would improve the defence greatly.

Having a forward core anchored by Tavares, Matthews, Kadri, Marner and Nylander with the addition of Tanev on the blueline would be a better team than a lineup that had Parakyo but lost one of Kadri or Nylander. Offence is the hardest thing to obtain in the NHL. TO has it in spades and shouldn't give it up when they can improve other areas for a far more affordable price.

Toronto looking to add to their right side D, not flip one for another while also weakening themselves down the middle! Might consider a deal if Zaitsev could be flipped for, a Borgman, Rosen, Hainsey, or Marincin, or even a prospect like Nielsen!

Obviously Tavares is an upgrade over Kadri and Parakyo over Zaitsev., but the Leaf don't have flexibility in cap in 2019/20 when an additional 15m might be spend on Matthews/Marner.
Bracco and Liljgeren aren't Leafs next year

you will not be able to afford all of those forwards.
