Description
If Tampa gets Tavares, they'll obviously have to move out some salary. Rather than dumping Tyler Johnson, I would pay some picks to get rid of Callahan and Coburn - if the ones I've chosen aren't enough, then bump them up. Even if it ends up costing a 1st and a 2nd to get rid of those guys, it's worth it to add Tavares.

I signed some depth guys for cheap one year deals to fill out the last 3 forward spots and add a 7th D. If Raddysh/Katchouk/anyone else unexpected has a great camp then you can bury/waive those guys. They are interchangeable with whoever can play that role and will sign for $1M or less.

I also left a bit of cap space for in season moves to address injury issues or make an addition at the deadline.

I'd be all in for this year, then move Johnson and Killorn next summer.

I think it would take more than a 2nd to take on Callahan's contract!

Yeah, I figured it might take a 1st, but even if it does, giving up a 1st for Tavares is a pretty solid deal IMO. I also thought Buffalo doesn't need the cap space in the next two years, and Callahan's work ethic is probably a good thing to have around all their kids.

Even a late 1st wouldn't do it IMO. If TB gets Tavares then they are probably front runners for the CUP. They would be desperate to offload money and every team in the league would know it which would garner an overpayment by TB to dump these guys. You also have to consider NTC and NMC's. Both Callahan and Coburn have 16 team trade lists. I doubt bottom feeders would be on those lists.

That's definitely a fair point, but even a late first is still a good asset for two years worth of cap space that isn't going to be used anyway. I would think there would be one of the 16 teams that would take that deal.

If you couldn't move one of them this summer, you could move Killorn instead.

Killorn also has a NTC lol. Seems like Stevie Y loves dishing out those!
