That's a lot to give up for a year of Karlsson

You'd clearly do the deal with a new 8x11 deal. The numbers barely work without signing Wheeler in 2019...

Hard no on the Kadri trade. Myers is good but he's not nearly as valuable as the absolute best 3rd line centre on the planet. (And don't give me any garbage that Kadri isn't the best 3rd line centre, there are more than 1 team where he'd be the top centre)

That may be, but who makes the Leafs better in 2018, Kadri or Myers? Scoring wont be a problem in 2018, keeping goals out will. Kadri was the 32nd highest scoring center in 2017, as a 2nd line center, he won't reach that in 2018 with 3rd line wingers. Myers was the 36 highest scoring defenceman, and would be on the 1st pairing for Toronto...so again, what is more valuable, 1st pairing D or 3rd line C?

1000% Kadri makes Toronto better than Myers. Kadri will be playing almost all of the coming season against 3rd and 4th liners. He's scored 30 goals back to back and that was often against the oppositions best players. Imagine what he'll do against easier matchups? The Leafs would put Myers on the top pairing but is he a top pairing defenceman? In my opinion, only if you don't have anyone better and there are many better than Myers.

The most important position to have depth in the NHL is centre Ice, Pittsburgh proved that time after time and Washington finally won after their 2nd and 3rd line centres played well in the playoffs. Centres are worth more than any other position.

I'd give up a 2nd and a non roster prospect for Myers (Not Liljegren) and no more than that. The Leafs won't be able to afford to keep him next season anyways.
