Description
We trade with Tampa and take on a lot of cap, as a result we get a great RHD prospect who should be NHL ready after one year in the minors and give Tampa a good prospect who could thrive if used correctly.
We trade Zuuc to a contending team for more assets.
Although this may put us in a tough cap situation now, if some of our players with bad contracts perform well and meet their previous expectations (Brendan Smith & Bobby Ryan) then we could trade them without having to give up young players and picks.
This would give us extra cap space and we’d be able to resign Pionk and Buchnevich and possibly get Artemi Panarin as a UFA if he hits the open market and if we buy out Marc Staal.

With his temperament issues, this could make it a no go if that was there reason for moving him. Could always sub a different prospect in here.

Definitely not bad offers, but to include Ryan in this deal, someone is going to have to pay more. At least another 1st/2nd rounder would be in order. I keep having an issue understanding why Ottawa would ruin their bargaining power by including him in this deal!? They are fine on cap space, why move him if you're rebuilding?

I'd be very sad to see Zucc go, but it is what it is.

Seeing Zuuc go would be very sad for myself as well but hockey is a business and I think it’s time we move on from Zuuc.
Also, Ottawa wants to move Ryan because his contract is horrible and he’s taking a valuable roster spot. Plus, the term is also lengthy so getting rid of him before he gets to the point where he doesn’t even produce would be the smart thing to do for Ottawa.
And you said that you feel Tampa should give us more. So what do you think they should give us. Cal Foote was their 14th overall draft pick a few years ago. He’s very good and strong and could be our #1 defenseman of the future if we get him.

Not necessarily Tampa, more Ottawa. I am giving up DeAngelo and a 2nd along with taking on Cally in return for Foote. What is Ottawa giving us to take on Ryan? I'm assuming Ottawa is insisting Tampa take him and their sending him our way? Ryan's contract is horrendous, so it's gonna cost something else. I'd say a 2nd or 3rd would do it, assuming it's part of the bigger deal. A deal for Ryan on his own would cost Ottawa more than that!

Think of it this way, what would it cost the Rangers to unload Marc Staal? Probably can't be done!

I like Foote very much also, in the end if these are the bones of the trade, I'm sure the rangers will flex a little to get it done.
