Description
Patch to St. Louis for two high end prospects, plus Alex Steen to help Blues cap hit issues.
I'm only showing Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Kyrou and Walman on the 2018-19 depth chart because it feels a bit better to see a brighter future. They belong in the minors to develop properly for another year or two.

Decent trade. It may be a little unfair for St. Louis but it's probably pretty close.

Should be beneficial to both teams, but also risk on both sides. The way it should be.

I know what you mean. But a first rounder from the Blues would likely be 15-25th overall, so it's far from a guaranteed NHL player. At least with prospects like this it's clearer that they are both likely to make it into the league and help improve the team. And the 2019 draft pick would mean a couple extra years of waiting before they are ready to play AHL/NHL. These prospects are already a few years beyond their draft years.
