Description
2018-2019 should be very interesting for COL. They're in a great position in their rebuild, and have plenty of upcoming picks/prospects (thanks, OTT).

Hopes:
1) Keep OTT 2019 1st, or move it for Stone/EK
2) Wilson is moved at deadline for a late pick
3) Soderberg is moved for picks/prospects
4) Timmins is kept in AHL to get big minutes and let ELC slide

Questions before 19-20:
1) Does Varlamov prove he's worth re-signing as a 1A?
2) Does Barrie get moved to make space for Timmins/Makar?
3) How well do all the RFAs do in a contract year?
4) Do any AHL players break the NHL roster?

TBL trade will not happen, Replace compher with jost and Shvyryov, I. for Timmins and OTT will say yes.

I'm not hard set on Barrie for Miller. I do think they move Barrie for a young, promising winger/center though. I just picked Miller because he's a similar cap hit, TBL could use a high-end RHD, and Miller is one of the few desirable forwards on TBL without a NTC.

I would definitely not want COL to move OTT 1st/Timmins/Jost for Stone. That's an overpayment from COL to me in this scenario. The Stone trade happens as it is (or similar prospects) depending on how desperate OTT is to get their 1st back. It may seem better to OTT too if Stone is only taking a 1 year arbitration deal before going UFA. If OTT doesn't want to go for a deal like this, then COL hangs on to the OTT 1st and is happy with a likely top-5 pick.

Agreed. Jost+Timmins+Ott 1st is too much of an overpayment. One of them + the 1st maybe.

The Avs could try and push OTT even harder and try giving Stone a reason to go all the way in arbitration by attempting to trade for his brother from Calgary. Be a good reason for him to walk away after 1 year as a UFA to then sign in Colorado to play with his brother. All depends on how much they get on.

    Girard - Johnson
    Zadorov - Stone
    Cole - Timmins
    Nemeth - Barberio

Wouldn't be a bad set up. Mike Stone does have an NMC he'd need to waive though.

I agree with this as well... Ott 2019 1st rounder is worth a kings ransom and I am sure Sakic and the Avs management know this as well. It will take a lot to pry that pick away. The only 1st round pick the Avs should/would even consider trading is their own, have a feeling that Ott 2019 1st rounder is borderline untouchable.

In short, the Avs fleeced the Senators in the Duchene trade and they were/still are laughing all the way to the bank. They wont make the same mistake as the Sens and should play hard ball if the Sens try to get that pick back. Good time to be Avs fan though thats for sure!!
