<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mergus80</b></div><div>I think this general concept is probably what they do. Of their big three UFAs, it sounds like their closest to extending Nichushkin. I don’t see how they can fit Kadri, and rather than extending Burakovsky I think it makes more sense to spend on a replacement 2C. Trocheck would be a good fit.
On the back end, I’m wondering if they try to keep Jack Johnson or Ryan Murray, rather than spending a little more on a guy they’re less familiar with. MacDermid is also a serviceable option as a rotational bottom-pair D, and I’m curious to see how much opportunity they give Danila Zhuravlyov.
The one wrinkle I could see is extending Manson and then trading Girard for a younger, more long-term solution at 2C. Marty Necas’s name is out there, or a player of comparable age, skill, and upside. I’m not necessarily advocating for that plan, but I think it’s a possibility.</div></div>
Definitely hoping Nichushkin gets wrapped up soon. There is just no way Kadri would fit in cap-wise... heard he could get in between $8-10 million per year somewhere else so good for him! Win the cup, make the money! I thought about Jack Johnson and Murray as well, which are options for sure. Also, I keep hearing Girards name being thrown around in a trade but the more I look at it he has such a team friendly long term deal, he's young and good so I hope we keep him. For me, Id rather keep Girard over Manson since I think Manson might test FA and sign elsewhere for $5+ million.

True! just a weird off-season to work around while having enough for a MacK extension, plus signing Byram and Newhook. Although working those two deals wont require a ton of salary in my opinion.

I dont see how the Sens will be better than 10 other teams as you claim, especially in a division the tthey have to face superior teams in Tampa, Boston, Toronto and Florida who will be a them down.
Dont see how they are going to be an improvement over next year even with Duchene and Karlsson starting the season with them.</div></div>
Agreed... Ottawas 2019 1st Rounder will be a top 5 pick. End of Story. This dude Athrin keeps thinking the Sens will be good next year hahaha. Been posting uneducated comments on every Avs Armchair GM thread, delusional Sens fan at its finest.

Avs 2019-20 Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capfriendlyaccount</b></div><div>Why not? They very well could. I would say there's about a 25% chance...:smirk</div></div>
Agree with this completely... The Senators are a team/Organization that straight crawled out of a trash can. I used to think the Avs had it bad when Roy and Duchene were being primadonna's, but the Sens are far worse. EK wants out, Stone will want a truck load of money and wouldn't understand why he would stay in the first place, plus the Sens making horrible trades (awesome trade from Avs perspective). The Avs have an extremely good chance of getting a top 5 pick next year with Ottawas draft pick.
Athrin must be a delusional pissed off Sens fan and doesn't accept reality for what it is. Jack Hughes to the Avs!! Thank You Sens!!

Avs 2019-20 Roster
Would love to see Panarin in an Avs sweater... The only thing is that I believe the Avs wont trade Barrie for another 2 years or so to give Timmins and Makar more time to develop. But, if they work out a trade where Barrie and a couple draft picks get Panarin, then you make that trade all day!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Agreed. Jost+Timmins+Ott 1st is too much of an overpayment. One of them + the 1st maybe.</div></div>
I agree with this as well... Ott 2019 1st rounder is worth a kings ransom and I am sure Sakic and the Avs management know this as well. It will take a lot to pry that pick away. The only 1st round pick the Avs should/would even consider trading is their own, have a feeling that Ott 2019 1st rounder is borderline untouchable.
In short, the Avs fleeced the Senators in the Duchene trade and they were/still are laughing all the way to the bank. They wont make the same mistake as the Sens and should play hard ball if the Sens try to get that pick back. Good time to be Avs fan though thats for sure!!

Avalanche In On Panarin
Man I would love to see Panarin in a Avs sweater... I think he would crush with them (he could do well on any team though). Honestly, where it stands, if the Avs were to give up Jost, Kerfoot, Avs 2019 1st round and a future pick that is not in the 2019 draft I think Sakic should/would do it.
Having Ottawa's 2019 1st overall offers a lot of flexibility for the Avs and it should be a top 5 Pick (unless Ottawa somehow does really well) so giving up guys like Jost/Kerfoot is nothing they couldn't replace on draft day (Jack Hughes/Kappo Kakko/Alex Turcotte/Alex Newhook etc).
I like it man!

OTT Gives COL 2018 Pick, COL Drafts Zadina
I like the the Ottawa trade for sure... Stone might be a long shot to get but then again Sakic did really a good job on the Duchene trade so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities (even better now that Ottawa has a big decision to make draft day).
Love the Zadina pick as well. He would be such a great fit with the Avs and is something we need (scoring wingers). Either way, the Avs are in the best position possible for the draft/offseason so whatever happens is going to be good for the team.
I have always been a fan of Hanifin and think he can take his game to next level with the Avs. I like that trade along with his contract so I think both are really good offers. Annnnd we still have money to get a depth signing or pay Mikko before JVR screws the market up for wingers.

What I would do
Would rather stay the course in my opinion, with a couple of tweaks. Keep Barrie on for at least another year or two until Timmins and Makar can make the jump. Makar wont be with the Avs until the 2019/2020 season and I kind of feel like De Haan is throwing money at something we don't need.
The only FA the Avs should try for is Tavares, if not, don't sign any FA (other than the ones who played for us last season if thats the route the Avs go). I would really like to see Stastny back in Denver as well but would rather spend the money and lock Rantanen up for 6 years at a good price before JVR screws up the winger market.
1. Lock up Rantanen
2. Attempt to sign Tavares
3. Stay the course / save Cap Space

Gelinas and Krug are interchangeable secondary parts in this trade. The upgrade of Krug over Gelinas doesnt offset the value of Barrie against the 14th overall pick.

Krug and Barrie are a lot closer then you think. Barrie>=Krug, 1st round pick>Gelinas. The way you are matching assets is deviating from the norm.</i></div></div>
No argument there at all... I think this would be a fair trade for the Avs. Krug is a great D-man with solid numbers and really comparable to Barrie... oh and we get a 1st round pick? I'd make that deal all day.

Trading barrie and the 10th overall for another Dman who isnt even a lock to be taken in the Top 5...and the margin b.w Juolevi, Chychrun, or Sergachev is so small, there is no point to trade up to get 1 of them since at least 1 of them will be at 10.
So you give up one of your best dman and gain nothing out of it. Thats terrible asset management.[/quote]
So is giving up Barrie for nothing if he decides to go the O'Reilly route :cheers

IDK, at some point you have to get tired of drafting 18yo centers. My big concern with this roster is... no Auston Matthews; with Bigras and Zadorov all but locked into starting roles, the big need is forward. You also don't need two UFA D.</i></div></div>
Auston Matthews would be awesome! But I am sure any team wanting to trade up to 1st overall will have to give up a lot... Teams turn into blood sucking demons to give up their spot. Like the NFL haha I hear you on the UFA D-men but I think they would add a great amount of depth to the Avs D, which they desperately need. Plus the younger D-men would be learning from them instead of Nick Holden haha. So I guess my idea for this team would be ditching dead weight (Holden, Stuart's Contract), trading Barrie (who may not even re-sign... could be another O'Reilly situation), getting depth on D, and giving Boedker a contract
