Okay, I can see the other moves making sense, even though I'd question bringing Stastny back. But it all falls apart for me in the last one. Why would you trade away from a dcore that's already below average to add another winger? Just makes no sense to me.

Columbus doesn’t need another right handed dman unless we trade Savard..... sorry but we’d like to keep Cam.

I am a huge Atkinson fan, but I wouldnt disrupt how close the locker room is by moving Barrie unless you are getting a young winger to build with. Cam is already 28, a really good hockey player, but I dont like the long term effect that does on the team.

I would like Stastny back but only if they move on from Soderberg, they are pretty redundant in roles, dont need both and block C spots away from Jost, Compher, Kerfoot etc. The roster and move are decent but I would question that they go against how the Avs are trying to build their team now and into the future.

You're information is a couple years old. The Avs actually have a good and young d core right now that is only going to get better. Girard and Makar are both like Barrie with the offensive instincts but can also play better in their own end. In other words they can pick up the offensive gap left by moving Barrie.

Wingers however are Colorado's greatest need at the moment. Depth scoring is a huge issue and thats why Colorado might target a second line winger in free agency or a trade.

JeffW, you should join the Expansion Game. Colorado is available if you would like them. (See the post for more details)

Barrie for Atkinson makes zero sense for either team.....

Colorado already has nice winger depth and Columbus doesn't need another RHD.

Would rather stay the course in my opinion, with a couple of tweaks. Keep Barrie on for at least another year or two until Timmins and Makar can make the jump. Makar wont be with the Avs until the 2019/2020 season and I kind of feel like De Haan is throwing money at something we don't need.

The only FA the Avs should try for is Tavares, if not, don't sign any FA (other than the ones who played for us last season if thats the route the Avs go). I would really like to see Stastny back in Denver as well but would rather spend the money and lock Rantanen up for 6 years at a good price before JVR screws up the winger market.

1. Lock up Rantanen
2. Attempt to sign Tavares
3. Stay the course / save Cap Space

The problem with staying the course is they had guys like neito, comeau, andrighetto that aren't going to put up the same production as last night or at least you cant count on it because they all had career years... the reason I traded Barrie was because they now have guys like makar and girard and I'd rather have them and trade for a winger which the avs desperately need (secondary scoring)... with everything I did I left room For rantanen to be locked up long term... I like stastny playing 2nd line centre because he has always been a great playmaker and soderberg is more of a 3rd line defensive guy that a point getter, I like jost on the left and kerfoot on the right with stastny finding them down low, makes the avs much more dangerous... the problem is finding someone to replace Bernie for when varly eventually gets injured
