IDK, at some point you have to get tired of drafting 18yo centers. My big concern with this roster is... no Auston Matthews; with Bigras and Zadorov all but locked into starting roles, the big need is forward. You also don't need two UFA D.

Auston Matthews would be awesome! But I am sure any team wanting to trade up to 1st overall will have to give up a lot... Teams turn into blood sucking demons to give up their spot. Like the NFL haha I hear you on the UFA D-men but I think they would add a great amount of depth to the Avs D, which they desperately need. Plus the younger D-men would be learning from them instead of Nick Holden haha. So I guess my idea for this team would be ditching dead weight (Holden, Stuart's Contract), trading Barrie (who may not even re-sign... could be another O'Reilly situation), getting depth on D, and giving Boedker a contract

Trading barrie and the 10th overall for another Dman who isnt even a lock to be taken in the Top 5...and the margin b.w Juolevi, Chychrun, or Sergachev is so small, there is no point to trade up to get 1 of them since at least 1 of them will be at 10.

So you give up one of your best dman and gain nothing out of it. Thats terrible asset management.

        A) Not one person has suggested that the Avs should "give up Barrie for nothing," they've just said that your return for him is terrible. (And it is). B) Comparing Barrie's situation to O'Reilly's at this point in time is flat out ridiculous. He's an impending RFA with arb rights and has given 0 indication that he wants to leave vs O'Reilly who was an impending UFA demanding over $8M to stay in Colorado because he was butt hurt about the captaincy and wanted to force his way out. C) EVEN given all that, the Avalanche got a trade return at least twice as good for O'Reilly as the one you're suggesting for Barrie + the 10th over all pick and that is flat out bonkers.

Oh yeah, I forgot EDM got bumped down. so nm about Matthews. But they still might go after PLD or another forward.

When they first traded for Boedker, I thought they might try to re-sign him; but the more I found out about the Avs' views on him, the less likely I think it happens. It's still a mystery how they are going to address the hole at wing, even with Rantanen coming up. Radulov is not a lock. Lots of options and possibilities.
