they dont have to, the Sens will finish in the bottom 5 to give them a shot at Hughes or any of the other high end guys in that rage like Kakko, Dach, Newhook.....same bet Avs will get a heck of a player with the Sens pick no matter what

Add in Shane Bowers to this roster, can see him being a legit 3C in this league . You dont even have Martin Kaut in this line up, gotta give him some Love.

If Avs get Hughes their Top 9 in 2 years could be

Landy Mack Rants
Jost Hughes Kaut
Kamenev Bowers Kerfoot

OTT does not end up in bottom 10 unless EK, Stone, Duch any of or all of them are moved.

They have the same coach, the team is worse on paper this year as last year interns of depth, and the Sens have a starting goalie in Anderson who is 37 coming off a terrible season of sub .900 sv% who also requested a trade.
I dont see how the Sens will be better than 10 other teams as you claim, especially in a division the tthey have to face superior teams in Tampa, Boston, Toronto and Florida who will be a them down.

Dont see how they are going to be an improvement over next year even with Duchene and Karlsson starting the season with them.

The only thing that could happen that we cant quantify on a roster is removing Hoffman changes the locker room vibe. Just like how Avs moving Duchene was able to bring the locker room closer together and Make take off. You cant really predict that sort of thing
