Description
This is the Leafs cap situation if everyone including ahlers resign in 3 years. If a contract is resigned earlier like Matthews they will have a max 7 or 6 years. The Leafs have a big question mark on defense with Sandin and Liljiegren being able to make the jump. Marleau and Hainsey are probably retired but leaves a hole on defense and LW. The top 3 centers are great but 4C is a question mark. Even if Marleau still plays their is still a LW hole. While Andersen is good he will become a UFA next summer as will Hyman. The need to shed either Brown or Kapanen in the upcoming summers. This team may be young but their contender window will be short lived due to a number questions marks.
Playoff team: Yes, depth and defense is a problem though
Cup contenders: No, too many holes and too top heavy to win a cup. The first 2 lines of offense will not carry you to a cup.
Biggest needs: LW, defense
Too much: RW

Gardiner isn't coming back. They won't have the room in '19-20.

He probably won't, I agree. This is more if everyone resigns because most won't.

Seems realistic, but IDK if it's best to have a 41 year old Marleau on the second line.

They have no one better, maybe Johnsson but IDK if Marleau will play at all TBH. They need left wingers, I didn't know this until I made this team at all. I thought defense was going to be bad but yikes they need LW.
