Description
Mostly dreaming of better times. Shoot the trades down if you want or suggest what's "fair" to even them up. Maybe desperate GM's swap disgruntled UFA left wings before training camp? Habs getting younger and collecting talent at expense of current roster. Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Brook and Brannstrom only on the roster as reminder of a brighter future - not ready for NHL in 2018-19.

  1. Panarin, Artemi
Additional Details:
Bread Man signs for 6 yrs at $8.0M in a high profile market. Another winger for the Habs but young enough to still be contributing when their young prospects arrive in next 2-3 years
CBJ
  1. Byron, Paul
  2. Pacioretty, Max
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Patches signs for 5 yrs at $7.2M and replaces Panarin for LW scoring over the next several years. Byron adds another 20 goals per year and depth to a team needing secondary scoring
2.
MTL
  1. Brännström, Erik
Additional Details:
Habs get top notch left D prospect ready in couple of years.
VGK
  1. Petry, Jeff ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Vegas get extra defensive depth and stability. GM McPhee descides he'd rather go for a cup in next couple of years while he has momentum instead of waiting for 19 year old D-man to develop

I really like the Vegas deal. I'm not sure of Bergevin going for Panarin and I'm not sure that Panarin doen't want to test the free agent market for big money as most of the Russian does.

Will be interesting to see if Vegas changes their thinking a little considering the hugely successful first year. I imagine Habs would hold onto Petry until Weber comes back in any case. Maybe the Vegas option happens at the trade deadline...As for Panarin it's just a shot in the dark. Probably not what Habs should be looking for at this point.

I’d say no to the Vegas trade because our blueline is already full and since McPhee signed Holden, for some reason, we don’t have a need for Petry even though he is a quality defenseman. Also, Brannstrom is a season away from filling in a future spot on our blueline anyway. It’s a great idea that I haven’t seen yet though!
