they read the market wrong. Waited too long to find a trade.

Skinner had all the power, full NMC pending UFA who wanted to be close to the Toronto area. By waiting till august the Canes had very limited options to move him. so the return was going to be lower than once reported.
They over asked at the draft, they held tight thinking someone would meet their demands, but time ran out on them .
