Description
$82M CAP

After TML signs the big 3 to big money, they'll be forced to bridge Kap and AJ. There's not a lot of CAP left, even with Horton on LTIR (which requires the team to be under the cap prior to the move). The D may look something like this with close to half being prospects.

Depending on how Holl and Orziganhov play, perhaps the Leafs will move Zaitsev out to give them a little more flexibility.

I agree, but if Zaitzev plays like he did when he first came to the Leafs, I think he will be a very valuable player for them. Though yes, if he has another bad year I do see him being moved so that there is more flexibility.

I'm not very concerned about the defence. There is one move I'd make but it will be hard to negotiate. I'd like the Leafs to bring in Chris Tanev but have Vancouver retain half the contract. Then trading Zaitsev will make a lot more sense and would make it easy enough to resign the people they need to resign. I think if they had Tanev, both the left and right side of the defence would be good enough no matter who makes the team next season.

Think it will also depend on how zaitsev plays too.

Totally, if he plays like he did to start the season, then he has a great contract. If he struggles or is just okay, I think the Leafs move him. They can't afford to spend money that doesn't bring back good value.
