Description
Going against what I perceive as the popular opinion of icing all the young prospects as soon as possible I would like to see the Leafs go another year of transition. This roster sees all the players at least 22 years old until the trade deadline.

This line up does not include who I hope is drafted this year, Jimmy Vesey as a top LW or Stamkos. :)

Trade Deadline Trade Bait:
Michalek, Laich, Greening, Hunwick and maybe Bickell.

WPG trade sees them with a top LW to replace Ladd at a bargain price and the Leafs get one of WPGs 4 RH dmen who WPG probably can't afford anyway. I think this is a win for both teams.

Chicago gets $4,650,000 in cap space as well as a solid 3rd pairing RH dman and the Leafs get a huge 6'5" LH 5th round drafted player and CHI 4th Pick 2016.

This line up will be competing for 1st overall in the 2017 draft. The following season would be when I would start letting the young stallions play.

    Thanks for the reply. I don't think that you realize I traded JVR for Trouba and then signed him. I didn't "offer sheet" him. The Leafs keep all their 1st round picks.

    Winnipeg is rebuilding too. JVR is a UFA in two years, Trouba is under Jets control for five years. Jets wouldn't take that deal.

    JVR deal is pretty bad. WPG will not be moving Trouba for a player like JVR (reached his plateau, injury prone, irresponsible in own zone, close to UFA). They would want a F or D that match Trouba's age and potential.

    Not trying to make JVR sound terrible. He is a very good top 6, even top line winger. Just he has flaws and is getting closer to FA.
