The problem is I honestly don't think half of them would work. Let alone MTL trying to get full value back.

Retaining on Alzner is pointless. He'd give MTL more value on the team than being traded with half salary and a low pick return. Our only savior right now is if he bounces back to be a respectable 4th dman. The maybe there is a trade to be made.

Schlemko at the current point in time is bordering on waiver wire material, not a 4th rounder. Frankly I'd accept waiver claim at this point but I don't think anyone is taking him off our hands for even absolutely nothing.

Benn getting a 3rd might be a little generous but if a team is desperate enough for depth, its possible. I'd say a 4th is more realistic.

No team is taking on Shaw without any salary going back the other way. The only way something like this works is if he stays healthy all year and has a productive year. He's already injured till next Nov-Dec and his stats have been plummeting too. He's a better player than people give him credit for but he needs to have a solid season to remind people why or else no one is taking on that contract. (without retention or salary going back)

The Petan trade is just hard to gauge. Plekanec should return a 4th this year based on what he got last year, McCarron has little value right now because he is simply not panning out and the 4th well is a 4th. if the Jets wanted to do this I'd probably do it.

I didn't necessarily mean these exact trades, just re-signing Pacioretty and clearing out the useless veterans. I do agree in your evaluations of the trades though.
