Description
RELAX - THESE ARE NOT REAL WORLD TRADES - I KNOW PRICE IS A HAB FOR LIFE, but....

Positions are sorted by where I think they might be on depth chart 4 years from now, not in 2019-20. Some of the lower players would no longer be on the team as contracts expired (such as Shaw, Alzner etc.)

Price Trade - June 2019, week before the draft. Oilers have missed the playoffs again. Talbot + Koskinen both coming off disappointing seasons in net, both allowed to walk away as UFAs. Price has a good rebound year in 2018-19, but new GM in MTL decides it's time to move on with a true rebuild. Oilers put together the best package and a deal comes together. Lucic contract hurts Habs for a while, but they are rebuilding for 3-4 years anyway.

Cayden Primeau looks great in camp, joins team for some games late in 2019 season after finishing just 2 years NCAA, looks like goalie of the future. Still needs a year or two as backup, so bring in Schneider for Petry. Petry helps solidify Devils right side D for a few years, Kincaid takes over as #1 in net.

Patch is moved at trade deadline and re-signs in Anaheim for 5x$7.25M. Cale Fleury goes to ANA as decent RHD prospect. Habs get top LHD prospect in Larsson not yet NHL-proven and Comtois young power forward prospect, plus conditional draft pick.

After these moves, Habs have 2 first round picks in 2019, and three in 2020. Assume they are picking at #3 and #15 in 2019, that's Dach (C) and Broberg (LHD). Assume picking at #2 and #13 in 2020, that's Byfield (C) and Guhle (LHD). Also #20 in 2020 with NJD pick, lets say Lucas Raymond (RW)

I like how you say "New Habs GM" but there is virtually no chance Bergevin gets fired during this season or next.. Everybody and their grandparents know Montreal is rebuilding so Bergevin is probably safe unless he starts overpaying guys and taking Massive L's on trades..

I like all your trades except the petry trade. You should trade petry for a 1st, than let play Lindgren as #1 and when primeau is ready trade Lindgren

I beefed up the Petry-Schneider trade a little so Montreal gets a bit more upside. Still think I'd rather have a veteran G around to pair up with Lindgren and Primeau, especially with a really young defense corps.

Very true, but I'm hoping that lots of 2-1 and 3-1 losses in the next 6 months result in empty seats and eventually someone has to pay for that. That's got to be Bergevin at some point. Even Mr. Molson must understand that.

The Oilers will not give up their top defensive prospect plus Benson for an aging and increasingly ineffective Carey Price and his massive forever contract.
